A Day of Connection, Learning & Inspiration: Somo Monarks at the NYC Small Business Expo 2025
On Wednesday, May 7, Somo Monarks had the pleasure of attending the Small Business Expo 2025 at the Jacob Javits Center in celebration of National Small Business Week. We didn’t have a booth or a product table—what we had was curiosity, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for what happens when entrepreneurs of all backgrounds and business sizes come together under one roof.
Walking through the Expo, we were reminded of how powerful it is to be in a space that welcomes everyone—from startups testing their first product idea to seasoned companies ready to scale. The workshops were rich with insight, and we sat alongside fellow dreamers and doers, listening, taking notes, and reflecting on how to better serve our community and customers.
We had the opportunity to speak with vendors across industries—from tech and publishing to wellness and finance. These conversations sparked ideas, revealed resources, and helped us think more deeply about how to grow Somo Monarks in sustainable and creative ways. For us, it wasn’t just about gathering information—it was about building relationships that align with our mission of pollinator protection and community wellness.
While we didn’t have a booth to showcase our "Sleepy the Morning Bat" children’s book series or share our full line of eco-conscious products, we did get the chance to promote our vision in conversation, to network intentionally, and to be present as part of the larger small business ecosystem of New York City.
What we walked away with was a renewed sense of purpose. Events like this remind us that there’s room at the table for every kind of business—emerging, established, and everything in between. The spirit of support, education, and innovation was felt in every corner of the Javits Center.
We’re thankful for spaces like these that uplift small businesses and foster community over competition. Somo Monarks is growing, learning, and leaning into every opportunity to bloom.
